FOOTBALL - Coventry Sphinx to rename home ground in memory of Cameron Slater

Aaron Sutcliffe 24th Jul, 2025   0

COVENTRY Sphinx will rename their home ground in memory of Cameron Slater for the 2025/26 season.

The club’s Sphinx Drive home will become the ‘Cameron Slater Arena’ next season in an attempt to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Coventry-born Cameron passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 23-year-old in March 2024.

After a normal day at work and game of darts with his friends, Cameron went to bed as normal but never woke up.

His family have since set up a memorial fund to support CRY.

Cameron’s family hope to raise funds to screen young people in the Coventry community.

CRY help to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac deaths through screening and research.

They also support families affected by CRY.
