CAMERON Dunn scored a brace in extra time as Coventry United clinched promotion with a dramatic 2-0 win against Atherstone Town.

With neither side able to break the deadlock in regulation time, Dunn struck twice in the extra period to seal promotion for the Red and Greens at Butts Park Arena.

Dunn opened the scoring three minutes into the extra period when he pounced on a loose ball to finish from close range.

And Dunn doubled United’s lead in stoppage time at the end of the first extra period with a stunning strike into the top-left corner from 25-yards out.

Coventry had home advantage in the final as league runners-up while Atherstone finished one place below United in the United Counties League Premier Division South table.

United will play at Step Four for the first time in the club’s history next season and boss Terry Anderson could not hide his delight after guiding the club to promotion.

Anderson said: “I’m absolutely over the moon.

“We’ve worked so many years and been so unlucky, other teams have been better than us on the day.

“But we were better than Atherstone on the day and we’ve won and gone up.

“The two best sides were in the final and we’ve come out on top.

“It means everything to everyone. The lads have come in and wanted to win from day dot.”

Assistant boss Luke Morton added: “Everyone was nervous during the game. It wasn’t even a game, it was just a battle.

“I don’t even know what happened during the game, we got through the game and then Dunny scored two.

“Me and Terry, 10 years we’ve worked at this, we felt it was our time.

“No one is going to remember what happened during the game.

“We’ve won, we’ve done it and we deserved it.

“The fans have been through a lot, the club nearly went under at one stage, the fans deserve it.”

Coventry also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Vase this season as the club enjoyed a memorable 2025/26 campaign.
