A RAMPANT first-half display saw Coventry United end their 11-game winless run with a 4-1 victory away at Daventry Town.

Jack Wells, Sami Muzaffar, Adam Miles and Joe Blowers all struck for United in the opening half an hour at Browns Road.

The result means Coventry sit 15th in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, nine points clear of the relegation zone.

United made the perfect start and took the lead on four minutes as Wells netted the game’s opening goal from a corner.

And the visitors doubled their lead on 17 minutes when Muzaffar drilled home after finding himself clean through on goal.

Daventry almost reduced the deficit only for Red and Greens goalkeeper Harvey Randle to push Daniel Childs’ header over the crossbar.

However, Coventry extended their lead on 27 minutes as Miles finished into an empty net to all but end the game as a contest.

United rounded off a remarkable first-half performance on 30 minutes when Blowers added his name to the scoresheet.

Daventry hit the crossbar through Tarik Dallas’s header in first-half injury time before the home side eventually scored a consolation goal on 72 minutes through Leon Lobjoit’s looping header.

However, Daventry lost goalscorer Lobjoit to the sin bin for dissent soon after as United comfortable saw out the remaining minutes to secure an impressive victory.

Coventry are next in action at home to Wellingborough Town on Saturday, December 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Butts Park Arena.
