FOOTBALL - Coventry United score late goal to see off Shifnal Town in FA Cup

A LATE goal from Ben Vallance earned Coventry United a 1-0 away win at Shifnal Town in the FA Cup.

Vallance’s looping cross found the net on 80 minutes at the Acoustafoam Stadium to settle the extra preliminary round tie.

Coventry will now travel to FA Cup debutants Abbey Hulton United in the preliminary round on Saturday, August 16.

The game’s only goal came 10 minutes from time when Vallance’s attempted cross from the left found the top right corner of the net.

Coventry are next in action against Histon FC on Saturday, August 9 with kick-off at 3pm at Bridge Road.
