COVENTRY United claimed a stunning 3-0 win against Wellingborough Town pre-Christmas before surrendering a two-goal lead against Racing Club Warwick on Boxing Day.
United took the lead against title-chasing Wellingborough through Stanley Dube’s first-half goal before Adam Miles sealed the points with two goals after the break at Butts Park Arena.
However, Coventry let a two-goal lead slip in a 3-2 defeat at league leaders Warwick on Boxing Day as Dube and Samir Muzaffar put United into a commanding lead inside half an hour.
The Racers quickly reduced the deficit through Josh Parsons before late goals from Cameron Ebbutt and Josh Willis completed the turnaround for the home side at Townsed Meadow.
And Coventry were then held to a 2-2 home draw by Bugbrooke St Michaels as Daniel Cassidy opened the scoring for United before substitute Dube levelled the game in the second half.
The results mean Coventry sit 13th in the United Counties League Premier Division South table.
Against Wellingborough, United broke the deadlock on 35 minutes when Dube found the bottom corner from 16-yards out.
The home side doubled their lead on the hour mark as Miles drilled the ball past the Wellingborough goalkeeper from a tight angle after some neat passing in the box.
And Miles struck again just five minutes later to secure a superb win for the Red and Greens as United inflicted just a second league defeat of the season on Wellingborough.
Against local rivals Warwick on Boxing Day, Coventry took the lead on 10 minutes when Dube capitalised on a mix-up at the back to take the ball past Sam Lomax before finishing into an empty net.
And United doubled their lead on 28 minutes as Muzaffar dribbled past several players before beating Lomax at his near post from the left-hand side of the penalty area.
However, Warwick responded almost straight from the restart when Parsons volleyed Jay DLionga’s cross from the right into the bottom right corner from eight-yards out.
The Racers drew level with 10 minutes left to play as Ebbutt fired home from 20-yards out after playing a neat one-two with James Hancocks.
And the home side completed the turnaround on 84 minutes when Willis glanced Callum Carsley’s corner from the right into the bottom left corner of the goal from inside the six-yard box.
Coventry are next in action at home to Newport Pagnell Town on Saturday, January 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Butts Park Arena.
