FOOTBALL - EFL supercomputer predicts Coventry City to win Championship title

AN EFL supercomputer has predicted Coventry City to win the Championship title this season.

The Compare.bet supercomputer has forecast the Sky Blues to continue their early season form and top the Championship table.

Frank Lampard’s side are projected to finish on 96 points made up of 29 wins and nine draws.

The supercomputer also predicts Coventry to score 95 goals and concede 47 goals – the best defence in the division.

The forecast puts Coventry six points ahead of Middlesbrough who are predicted to finish second.

Millwall, Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers and Southampton would contest the play-offs.

Despite enduring a difficult start to the campaign, the supercomputer has Sheffield United just outside the top-six.

Coventry’s M69 rivals Leicester City are also predicted to miss out on the play-offs.

The relegation spots also throw up a couple of surprises with Norwich City and Birmingham City predicted to drop into League One.

Struggling Sheffield Wednesday are predicted to prop up the table at the bottom of the division.

The supercomputer estimates the outcome of each remaining fixture based on a team’s current strength.

This is based on factors such as league position and form and betting market odds.

The machine then simulates the remaining games in a season 10,000 times and constructs an average league table from the 10,000 simulations, to rule out anomalous results.
