ELLIS Simms scored a hat-trick as Coventry City ended the season with a dominant 4-0 victory away at Watford.
Simms netted twice before the break and completed his treble in the second half at Vicarage Road.
And Victor Torp’s stunning strike ensured the Sky Blues ended the Championship season in style with the club to play in the Premier League next term.
The result means Coventry end the season on 95 points some 11 points clear of fellow promoted side Ipswich Town.
Frank Lampard fielded a rotated side with the Sky Blues already promoted as champions as the City boss rewarded his squad players with deserved minutes.
The Sky Blues wore the self-proclaimed ‘worst kit of all time’ in the fixture as City donned a deep chocolate plum coloured strip.
And Coventry broke the deadlock on 19 minutes when Simms headed Jake Bidwell’s perfectly-weighted cross into the bottom left corner from eight-yards out.
Watford almost drew level when Nestory Irankunda rounded a hesitant Carl Rushworth only for Joel Latibeaudiere to clear the ball off the line.
And Irankunda went close again soon after as the Australia international lashed a shot against the post with Rushworth beaten.
However, Coventry doubled their lead in style two minutes before half time when Simms fired a stunning first time effort into the top-left corner from 25-yards out.
And Simms, who had not scored in the league since January prior to the final day, completed his hat-trick on 58 minutes with a finish at the near post from Torp’s cutback.
Torp capped a stunning season for the Sky Blues with the game’s final goal five minutes from time as he curled a sublime effort into the net via the underside of the crossbar from 25-yards out from Jamie Allen’s pass.
Allen marked his 200th appearance for the club with an assist while goalkeeper Carl Rushworth picked up the Golden Glove award after recording 17 clean sheets over the course of the season.
