LEAH Williamson marked her 50th England appearance with a goal as the Lionesses beat South Africa 2-1 at the Coventry Building Society Arena in an international friendly.
Williamson opened the scoring in Coventry after just 12 minutes before Grace Clinton doubled England’s lead on 23 minutes as Thembi Kgatlana reduced the deficit after the break at the CBS Arena.
More than 20,000 fans watched on as Sarina Wiegman’s side claimed victory in Coventry.
England captain Williamson broke the deadlock with a first time finish into the bottom right corner from Jessica Naz’s pass after South Africa failed to clear their lines at a corner.
And the hosts doubled their lead soon after when the impressive Clinton headed in Maya Le Tissier’s cross from the right from 10-yards out.
However, South Africa halved the deficit on 55 minutes as Kgatlana latched onto Williamson’s stray pass before driving into the box and coolly finding the bottom left corner past Mary Earps.
