FORMER Coventry City assistant manager Adi Viveash has made a return to coaching with one of the club’s Championship rivals.
Viveash will form part of Rob Edwards’ backroom staff at Middlesbrough after he replaced Michael Carrick in the Riverside Stadium dugout.
Edwards has signed a three-year-deal with Boro with Viveash and Harry Watling confirmed as part of his backroom staff.
Carrick’s final game in charge of Boro came against the Sky Blues on the last day of the 2024/25 Championship season.
A brace from Jack Rudoni sealed a 2-0 win for City which both secured a top-six finish for the Sky Blues and denied Boro a place in the play-offs.
Boro sacked Carrick following the conclusion of the season and have turned to former Luton Town boss Edwards as his replacement.
And Boro have surrounded Edwards with plenty of experience in the form of former Coventry assistant Viveash.
Viveash spent seven years as assistant manager to Mark Robins at Coventry before suddenly departing the club in July 2024.
The Sky Blues sacked Robins as manager in November that same year.
Coventry owner and chairman Doug King cited a breakdown in the relationship between Robins and Viveash as the reason for the latter’s departure.
King made the claim at a live fans forum hosted by BBC CWR with neither Robins nor Viveash present to respond to King’s answers.
Robins and Viveash masterminded Coventry’s rise from League Two to the brink of promotion to the Premier League.
Viveash also spent nine years coaching in Chelsea’s academy during which time he won three successive FA Youth Cup finals and two UEFA Youth League titles.
