FRANK Lampard insists 16-year-old prospect George Shepherd will be given a chance in the first team if he continues to impress in training.
Shepherd featured on the bench as an unused substitute in Coventry’s wins against Blackburn Rovers and Watford.
The Sky Blues academy prospect caught the eye of boss Lampard when called up to train with the senior squad.
And Lampard insists versatile midfielder Shepherd will be handed an opportunity if he continues to show progress in training.
Lampard said: “Sheps is there because he deserves to be there.
“He’ll get his opportunity if he keeps training and working hard.
“He knows that he’s here because he’s been able to sniff out a chance in the first team at 16-years-old because of his own work.
“He’s a Coventry fan, I’m very happy to have him there and his opportunity will come if he keeps going.”
