FOOTBALL - Frank Lampard not interested by Premier League vacancies as Sky Blues boss reaffirms commitment to Coventry City

FRANK Lampard showed no interest in the current vacancies in the Premier League and reaffirmed his commitment to Coventry City.

Lampard finds himself high up on the list of bookmakers’ favourites to take over at either Chelsea or Crystal Palace next term after guiding Coventry to the Championship title this season.

However, Lampard refused to discuss his links to jobs in the Premier League and reaffirmed his commitment to the Sky Blues.

Lampard said: “I’m not sure anyone is questioning my commitment to the club because of what we’ve done.

“I feel like I’ve been committed since I’ve been here. I have no worries with it, I’m manager of the football club.

“We’re in a great moment of enjoying promotion to the Premier League. We know there’s a lot of work to be done.

“I’m happy. I don’t get involved in rumours. In my job, you’d be very smart to just focus on the job at hand and not get involved in that stuff.

“If a team does well, things happen around you that you can’t control. People might talk about our best players going somewhere else because they’ve performed well. That’s football.

“I don’t sense too much worry.”

Coventry’s promotion to the top flight has sparked a number of questions regarding the current crop of players available to Lampard next season.

And Lampard believes the upcoming summer transfer window will be the biggest in the club’s history with the Sky Blues out to close the gap to the teams already in the Premier League.

Lampard added: “Not many of the players have played many minutes in the Premier League.

“That’s great because that’s a carrot. They’ll understand the levels and they deserve the opportunity for what they’ve done this season.

“As a club we have to be ready for the challenges, there’s a lot to be done whether it’s with the squad or things behind the scenes.

“We have to move quickly. It’s a big challenge but it’s a great one.

“It will be the biggest summer for the club because of the challenge that’s coming and what the gap is.”

A trip to Vicarage Road awaits Coventry on the final day of a memorable 2025/26 campaign.

And Lampard hinted he will likely play a rotated side against Watford with many of his squad players set to feature.

Lampard said: “There will be some of that [rotation] and it’s very-well deserved.

“It’s not charity, the players absolutely deserve minutes because they’ve all contributed to this.

“I can’t ask and demand from them all season without understanding there’s people that deserve opportunities.

“It will still be a strong team we put out but less about the players I pick and more about the attitude and application of the team.”

Coventry travel to Watford on Saturday, May 2 with kick-off at 12.30pm at Vicarage Road.
