FRANK Lampard praised the ‘different faces’ of his Coventry City side after the Sky Blues claimed a resounding victory away at Millwall.
Coventry romped to a 4-0 win at the Den as Haji Wright netted a brace before Ellis Simms and Kaine Kesler-Hayden scored late goals to seal the points.
And Lampard branded Coventry’s display in the capital as a complete performance as the Sky Blues stretched their unbeaten run in the league to eight matches.
Lampard said: “It was an outstanding performance. It’s always a really tough place to come.
“It was a complete performance, from high pressing and a bit of control in the first half to being a bit more compact and dangerous in transition [in the second half].
“The team showed a couple of different faces in a good way. It’s good at the moment.
“It’s going to be very tough to be where we want to be this season but if we can keep this togetherness and keep playing then hopefully we’ll have a chance.”
Wright netted either side of half time to put the visitors in command before substitutes Simms and Kesler-Hayden netted late on.
And Lampard insists Coventry have made progress in their style of play since his arrival as head coach last season.
Lampard added: “I do [feel a connection between the players, staff and supporters].
“We work hard as staff. The staff that were here before me and the staff I brought with me.
“We’ve seen progress for sure and the fans are relating to what they see on the pitch.
“The focus, passion and quality of our play and that’s a good place to be in.”
Coventry are next in action against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, October 4 with kick-off at 12.30pm at Hillsborough.
