FRANK Lampard admits both Victor Torp and Josh Eccles are injury doubts ahead of Coventry City’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
Torp and Eccles both picked up knocks in Coventry’s win against Millwall in midweek as the Sky Blues stretched their unbeaten run to eight league matches.
Both players will train with the squad as normal in the build-up to the game with Lampard and the club’s medical department yet to make a decision on their involvement this weekend.
Lampard said: “Josh [Eccles] had a big problem in his glute which we are managing.
“Victor Torp has a sore ankle. The general group are recovering. We’ve hardly done anything on the pitch.
“Both will train ahead of the game and we’ll work out whether their ready for the game.
“We’re prioritising recovery a lot because we’re a small squad in this league and we’ve had three games in a week.”
Coventry head into the fixture second in the Championship table just two points behind early league leaders Middlesbrough.
And while Lampard believes the Sky Blues have made big strides this season, he does not want his side to rest on their laurels.
Lampard added: “The performances have been really good. If there’s a gripe it’s that we should have more points.
“There are some games we’ve drawn that we should have won but that’s football.
“We’ve moved on from last year. We made big strides last year which is really visible.
“At this point, we’ve made more due to the hard work we’ve put in.
“We’ve had continuity but we’re also seeing a lot of improvement. We can never rest on that.
“It’s important we say ‘what’s next, what’s more’ that we can do to get better. We always have to have that mindset.”
Coventry travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, October 4 with kick-off at 12.30pm at Hillsborough.
