FRANK Onyeka insists Coventry City ‘must not dwell’ on their defeat to Southampton for too long with the Sky Blues seven points clear at the top of the table.
Onyeka tasted defeat for the first time as a Coventry player following his January arrival from Premier League side Brentford.
The midfielder featured in six successive victories before defeat against Saints.
However, the Nigeria international is already looking ahead to the club’s weekend fixture against Swansea City.
Onyeka said: “We were not so clinical.
“We had loads of chances that did not go in. It was one of those days where things did not go our way.
“No player ever wants to lose but we need to accept it, pick ourselves up and look ahead to the next game.
“When we scored the penalty we felt like it was the time [to score again].
“After the penalty, we still had loads of chances to score.
“It’s disappointing but we don’t need to dwell on this for too long.”
Onyeka’s arrival coincided with Coventry’s return to form following a frustrating first half of the campaign at parent club Brentford.
And Onyeka praised the Sky Blues faithful and his teammates for making him feel so welcome since his move to the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Onyeka added: “I love it [here]. From my first day at the club, I knew it was right.
“The feeling, not just from the fans but the players, how they’ve welcomed me, I’ve even got my own song which is great.
“I’m really pleased to be here.”
Coventry are next in action against Swansea on Saturday, March 21 with kick-off at 5.15pm at the Swansea.com Stadium.
