FRANK Onyeka wants to bring ‘intensity’ to Coventry City’s play ahead of the club’s top-of-the-table clash against Middlesbrough.
Onyeka could make his debut for the Sky Blues against Boro after signing on loan with an obligation to buy on transfer deadline day,
The midfielder watched Coventry’s goalless draw against Oxford United from the bench and recently celebrated the birth of his second child.
And Onyeka hopes to add some strength to City’s midfield and believes his experience at parent club Brentford will help him raise the standards at the Sky Blues.
Onyeka said: “I’m strong, win duels, like running with the ball and reading the game.
“What I bring to the team is my experience and intensity from playing and training at Brentford.
“We are all different types of midfielders. We bring different qualities to the team.
“It’s just about getting in and settling in with the boys.”
The 28-year-old recently helped Nigeria reach the semi-finals of AFCON.
And Onyeka is ready to give his all for the Sky Blues who will sign the midfielder permanently if they achieve promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Onyeka added: “It’s a big game. Middlesbrough are top of the league.
“We’re doing everything we can to focus on the game.
“Whoever wins will go top. We know it’s going to be a very intense game.
“I appreciate the warm welcome from the fans.
“I can’t wait to give everything for the club and the fans.”
Coventry host Boro on Monday, February 16 with kick-off at 8pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
