GOALKEEPER Ben Wilson scored a dramatic injury time equaliser as Coventry City drew 1-1 away at play-off rivals Blackburn Rovers to keep their top-six hopes alive.
Wilson bundled home Gustavo Hamer’s corner in the fifth minute of time added on after Sam Gallagher had opened the scoring for Blackburn at Ewood Park.
The result means City sit eighth in the Championship table, one point and two places outside of the play-offs with just three matches left to play.
Blackburn had the game’s first chance inside the opening 10 minutes as Gallagher headed a cross from the right straight into the arms of Wilson from 10-yards out.
And Rovers took the lead on 39 minutes when Gallagher stooped to head Joe Rankin-Costello’s cross into the bottom right corner.
Mark Robins’ side put their bodies on the line in the second half as first Luke McNally and then Liam Kelly made crucial blocks to keep the Sky Blues in the contest.
City went close two minutes from time as Hamer bent a free-kick from the left towards the near post which was punched away by Rovers goalkeeper Aynsley Pears.
And the Sky Blues rescued a point right at the death when Wilson scrambled home Hamer’s corner from close range to spark wild scenes of celebration as Blackburn appealed for handball.
Coventry are next in action at home to Reading on Saturday, April 22 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
