FORMER Coventry City manager Gordon Strachan believes another top-six finish for Coventry City would mark a successful season for the Sky Blues.
Coventry suffered play-off semi-final heartbreak against Sunderland last season after Frank Lampard secured an unlikely top-six finish following his appointment as Sky Blues boss last November.
Former Sky Blues boss Strachan managed the club in the Premier League from 1996 to 2001.
And Strachan admits if Coventry can finish in the top-six once again, the club’s supporters will be dreaming of a return to the top flight.
Speaking to OLBG, Strachan said: “I have three season ticket holders in my family at Coventry and I know a lot of people at Coventry.
“Knowing the fans well, I think if they get the top six again, that’s successful.
“That is the feeling around here in Coventry. I don’t think it’s about automatic promotion. I don’t think they think that way.
“They understand that they’re probably at a level that definitely finishes in the top-10.
“If they get the top six then they’re hoping to get promoted from there so I think Frank Lampard is in a good place.
“People are pleased with him and his work. I think he likes it here as well.”
