VIKTOR Gyokeres moved onto 20 goals for the season after the Sweden international netted a brace in Coventry City’s comfortable 3-0 win away at relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers.

Gyokeres opened the scoring on 10 minutes and completed the win two minutes from time after Gustavo Hamer sealed the points late on at Loftus Road.

The result means City are now just one point and one place outside of the play-offs with four matches left to play ahead of a crucial trip to sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night (April 19).

And the Sky Blues made the perfect start when Hamer picked up a loose ball in midfield and slipped in Gyokeres who kept his cool to fire the ball past Seny Dieng from 12-yards out.

The home side went close to an equaliser when Ilias Chair let fly with a free-kick from 30-yards out only for Ben Wilson to make a superb acrobatic save diving high to his left.

And Wilson was called into action again in the second period as he pushed away Sam Field’s effort after Coventry failed to clear their lines at a set-piece.

City wrapped up the points on 86 minutes when Gyokeres was sent in behind the QPR defence and squared to Tyler Walker who did well the turn the ball inside to Hamer who finished at the second attempt.

And there was still time for Gyokeres to net his 20th league goal of the season on 88 minutes after Ben Sheaf won back possession and played in Hamer who squared for Gyokeres to finish at the back post.

Coventry are next in action away at Blackburn on Wednesday, April 19 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Ewood Park.
