HAJI Wright admits Coventry City’s weekend game against Sunderland will be a ‘full-circle moment’ for the forward.
Wright suffered an ankle ligament injury against the Black Cats in the reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light in November.
The USA international stepped up his injury return by playing the full 90 minutes in Coventry’s defeat at Derby County in midweek.
That came after the forward made substitute appearances in wins against Oxford United and Stoke City.
And Wright, who scored in City’s draw at Sunderland earlier this season, insists he is feeling fit and strong again
Wright said: “I am happy to be back in the mix. It’s been a long time so it feels really good.
“Tuesday felt really good, to be starting finally. It was unfortunate that we didn’t get the result but it was nice to be out there.
“I am hoping that, in my case, it doesn’t take me long to get back up to full speed. There’s a lot of that which depends on the style of play and the team but we’ll see.
“I felt okay on Tuesday after two-and-a-half weeks of build-up to that first start so I am feeling fit and strong.
“It’s a full-circle moment for me because it was against Sunderland where I picked up my injury. That’s just how life works out.”
Wright is confident the Sky Blues will bounce back from their midweek defeat at Pride Park.
And the American insists City remain determined to achieve a top-six finish this season.
Wright added: “It was really good to see them win nine out of 10, it was amazing.
“I don’t think that Tuesday night’s defeat will affect us very much. We have a mentally-strong group of players and changing room staff so we’ll bounce back from it.
“There is still a lot of confidence out there and, given the last ten games, there is no reason not to be confident.
“The goal now is the final games and staying in the top six.”
Coventry host Sunderland on Saturday, March 15 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
