JACK Rudoni revealed he has been ‘playing through injuries’ to aid Coventry City’s promotion push this season after scoring against West Bromwich Albion.
The midfielder found the net for the first time since August against the Baggies to add to Ephron Mason-Clark’s opener at the Hawthorns.
Rudoni finished the previous campaign with double figures for goals and assists and excelled following Frank Lampard’s appointment as Sky Blues boss last term.
However, the 24-year-old insists he is playing through the pain barrier to help Coventry in their quest to achieve promotion to the Premier League.
Rudoni said: “It’s really good to be back on the scoresheet.
“It’s about time so I had to make it a good one.
“It’s always on the cards, I was looking to slip Ephron in but his run opened up space for a shot and I hit it perfectly.
“It’s been a tough season with injuries. The kind of injuries people don’t know about and I’ve been playing through a lot this season.
“I’m just trying to do everything I can to get the best out of my body and get us across the line.”
After Mason-Clark opened the scoring on five minutes with a lob, Rudoni lashed a stunning effort into the top-left corner just past the half-hour mark after running with the ball from inside his own half.
Coventry won on the road for the first time since November and Rudoni hopes the victory will allow the Sky Blues to embark on another winning run.
Rudoni added: “It was something we spoke about before the game.
“Our away form has been letting us down recently, we need to tighten up on that.
“The performance really backed up the Middlesbrough result, it was a brilliant away performance, solid and clinical.
“Hopefully we can step on the gas and keep getting wins.”
Coventry travel to Sheffield United on Wednesday, February 25 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Bramall Lane.
