JAMIE Allen admits he cannot put his finger on the reasons behind Coventry City’s struggles this season.
The midfielder made his first start since September as the Sky Blues conceded twice in injury time in defeat against Norwich City at Carrow Road.
And the 29-year-old feels City are not far way from turning their season around with Coventry six points clear of the Championship relegation zone.
Allen said: “It’s just little things. I really can’t put my finger on which they are, but we’re working together.
“The new head coach has come in and got his good ideas, and we’re working with them ideas and hopefully we can put performances like that together week in and week out, and then hopefully results come.
“It’s my first start since my injury so I’m happy to be back in the team, helping the team.
“I felt like I’ve worked hard, I felt the whole team did as well. We worked as a proper team, and I hope it continues.”
Noriwch’s Amankwah Forson struck twice in stoppage time to leave the Sky Blues stunned after Milan van Ewijk volleyed the visitors into the lead in the first half.
And Allen insists the players must pick themselves up after suffering an agonising late defeat at Carrow Road.
Allen added: “We need to pick ourselves back up now and then work towards next week really.
“The lads worked really hard we kept them to a minimum of chances, shooting from long range where they were missing. It’s just one of them things, it’s football, and things happen like that.
“So back to the training ground next week, work hard as always, and go again Saturday.
“I think it’ll take a couple of days to get over it a bit, and then hopefully the boys come in next week, and it’s in the past now. So, we have to work forward and think about the future.”
Coventry are next in action against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 6pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
