JAMIE Allen has signed a new deal with Coventry City that runs until June 2025.
The midfielder has played a key role in City’s play-off push this season and has been rewarded with a new contract having scored six goals in 34 Championship appearances this term.
And the 27-year-old has captained the side on a number of occasions following his move from Rochdale in June 2019 having turned out more than 100 times for the Sky Blues over the last four seasons.
Allen told ccfc.co.uk: “I am very happy. We were not talking for that long and we reached a deal, so I am very happy to be staying here for a few more years.
“I have always said, I am enjoying my football here. I am playing games so I am happy to stay on.
“There is a big difference here at the club now. We’re getting stronger in the Championship, as we should be, and we’re pushing on.
“Everything has changed since I joined, even though we got promoted in my very first season.
“We can only keep climbing, if we’re steady at doing what we’re doing. We’re going to push ourselves over these next seven games and we’ve got a really good chance to get inside those top six.”
Sky Blues boss Mark Robins added: “We’re delighted that Jamie has signed a new contract with the club.
“He is a player who has a lot of key attributes for us, especially in his work rate and technical ability, and a terrific attitude too.
“He’s played a number of roles in the centre of midfield for us and also captained the club, so we’re very pleased to continue to work with him.”
