COVENTRY United Ladies have confirmed that manager Jay Bradford has left her role with the club with immediate effect.
Bradford guided Coventry to safety in the Women’s Championship against all the odds last season, overcoming a 10-point deduction to stay up on the final day with a dramatic win against Watford.
Her departure brings an end to Bradford’s five-year reign in charge having stepped up to the role of manager in May 2016.
During that time, Bradford led the Red and Greens to the National League South title and has helped establish the club in the second tier of Women’s football.
A club statement read: “We can confirm that Jay Bradford has left her role at the club.
“We cannot thank Jay enough for her loyalty and brilliance throughout her time at the club.
“Once a Red and Green, always a Red and Green, thank you for everything, a true legend of Coventry.”
Bradford posted a farewell message on Twitter as she reflected on her time in charge at Butts Park Arena.
Bradford said: “My time at Coventry United has drawn to a close.
“I have experienced the greatest highs and the cruelest lows of football during my time at the club.
“I would like to thank every staff member that joined me during my tenure.
“To the fans of this club, thank you for your unwavering support.
“I owe my biggest thanks to the players that wore the shirt, they made everything possible, they captured the heart of Coventry and delivered time and time again.
“I can’t sign off without mentioning ‘The Great Escape’, I am not sure I will ever fully recover from the enormity of what we achieved.
“I am beyond proud that I leave the club with its FA Championship status in tact.”
The news of Bradford’s departure comes just a couple of weeks after assistant coach Jo Potter also left the club.
