FOOTBALL - Jay Dasilva insists Coventry City must 'embrace the challenge' ahead of Norwich City trip

JAY Dasilva insists Coventry City must ’embrace the challenge’ of leading the Championship table ahead of a trip to Norwich City.

The Sky Blues head into the clash off the back of successive home victories with Frank Lampard’s side three points clear of Middlesbrough at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Coventry conceded two injury-time goals to suffer an agonising defeat on the club’s last trip to Carrow Road in January 2025.

And Dasilva feels the Sky Blues are a different team to the one who tasted defeat in Norfolk last season.

Dasilva said: “From going there last year to this year, it’s a completely different feeling.

“You could say it’s a different team. It’s nice to look back and see [where we were].

“They’ve started to pick up some good results recently. They’ve found a bit of form.

“We’re aware of that and we’re aware it will be a tough game.

“It’s not a bad thing to be top of the league. It’s a good learning curve and we need to just embrace the challenge.”

Dasilva also believes the club’s FA Cup third round defeat at Stoke City acted as a reset for the Sky Blues following a difficult Christmas period.

And the full-back insists recent wins against Leicester City and Millwall showed Coventry’s fight and desire remains strong.

Dasilva added: “It was two really important wins for us, back-to-back home victories, hopefully we can make it three out of three.

“It was a bit of a reset for us [the FA Cup defeat at Stoke]. An opportunity for us to get in that mindset of getting back on it.

“You can see how important these last two results mean to us and our performances on the pitch have shown our fight and desire.

“It’s just focusing game-by-game and worrying about just us and focusing on what we can do to rack up as many points as we can.”

Coventry travel to Norwich on Monday, January 26 with kick-off at 8pm at Carrow Road.
