KAI Andrews believes Coventry City can take positives from the club’s FA Cup third round defeat against Stoke City.

Andrews made just his third start of the season for the Sky Blues at the bet365 Stadium alongside Josh Eccles in central midfield.

And the teenager hopes more minutes come his way in the remainder of the campaign having featured seven times from the bench in the Championship this season.

Andrews said: “We were unfortunate to lose the game in the way we did but sometimes you have to hold your hands up to a brilliant finish.

“It’s definitely a performance we can take some positives away from and we can focus on the [league] season now.

“As the game went on I grew into it more. I can take a lot of positives away from the game and it’s something I can build on.

“I just want to play as many minutes as I can and develop as much as I can and help the team get to where we want to get to.”

Andrews is looking forward to this weekend’s M69 derby clash against rivals Leicester City.

And the 19-year-old remains confident Coventry will rediscover their early season form which saw the Sky Blues take a commanding lead at the top of the table.

Andrews added: “I’ve been training with Josh for years so we’ve got a good understanding as players and how we can work together.

“The new signings have brought so much energy. They’re both very direct in the way they play and that’s something very fresh for us.

“Everyone is very excited for [Leicester] in the derby at home. I’m sure the fans will be as well.

“We just want to try and get to where we know we can as a team. We know what we can achieve as a team.

“We started the season very fast and we’re going to find our form again.”

Coventry are next in action against Leicester City on Saturday, January 17 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
