VETERAN defender Kyle McFadzean has left Coventry City by mutual consent to complete a move to Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
The 36-year-old helped the Sky Blues win the League One title in his first season with the club and leaves City having made 171 appearances scoring eight goals.
McFadzean captained Coventry on a number of occasions and last featured for the Sky Blues in a 3-2 defeat at Preston North End in early November.
The centre-back has signed a short-term deal with Blackburn until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
City boss Mark Robins said: “I would like to thank Kyle for his time at Coventry City.
“He has made a significant contribution to the success that we have enjoyed over recent years, and he will be fondly remembered for years to come by everyone at the club and our supporters for that, and the attitude he has shown both on and off the pitch.
“We all wish him the best of luck for the future.”
Executive chairman Doug King added: “It is always a sad day when a stalwart of our club moves on. He will not be forgotten, and we all wish Kyle the best of luck for the future.
“He is very well respected at our club and amongst our fans and will always be part of the Sky Blue family.”
The defender scored the winning goal in City’s first game back at the Coventry Building Society Arena against Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the 2021/22 season.
McFadzean started in last season’s Championship play-off final as the Sky Blues lost to Luton Town on penalties at Wembley.
He joined City from Burton Albion on a free transfer ahead of the 2019/20 season.
