BEN Gibson’s late own goal earned Coventry City a point in a 1-1 draw with Norwich City in the club’s last league game before the international break.
Gibson put through his own net with two minutes left to play after Jonathan Rowe opened the scoring for Norwich just before half time at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
And the result means Coventry sit 13th in the Championship table, three points outside of the play-off places.
The Sky Blues had the game’s first chance when Jamie Allen found Kyle McFadzean on the edge of the penalty area with Angus Gunn equal to the defender’s tame effort.
However, the Canaries took the lead with their first meaningful shot on target as Rowe fired a shot through the legs of Bobby Thomas and past Ben Wilson from Jack Stacey’s pass.
Chances were at a premium in the second half before Gibson headed Milan van Ewijk’s cross from the right into his own goal at the near post with two minutes of regulation time left to play.
The Sky Blues almost won the game at the death with only a crucial block denying van Ewijk before veteran Canaries defender Danny Batth cleared Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s diving header off the line.
Coventry are next in action away at Bristol City on Saturday, October 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Ashton Gate.
