COVENTRY United scored two injury time goals to complete a dramatic turnaround and secure a 3-2 win against 10-man Rothwell Corinthians in front of their biggest crowd of the season on Non-League Day.
Joseph Agunbiade struck five minutes into added time to snatch the points after Joe Blowers had equalised two minutes earlier following Mason Platts’s opener in a five-goal thriller at Butts Park Arena.
The result means Coventry sit seventh in the United Counties League Premier Division South table.
United were denied the opener when Adam Miles saw his header superbly tipped behind by Rothwell goalkeeper Jude O’Connor.
However, the home side took the lead on 36 minutes when Platts powered the ball into the back of the net from Sam Rodber’s pass despite a Rothwell going down with a head injury prior to the goal being scored.
The visitors equalised just before half time as Lamin Jammeh scored from the penalty spot after Lamin Jammeh was fouled in the box.
Rothwell were reduced to 10-men on the hour mark after Aaron Lingley was shown a second yellow card only for Maisiri to complete a sensational turnaround on 70 minutes who forced the ball home at the second attempt.
Coventry eventually levelled against the 10-men three minutes into injury time as Blowers fired home from the edge of the penalty area from Harry Chesterton’s pass.
And with seconds left on the clock Agunbiade struck from 25-yards out to stun the visitors and snatch all three points at the death.
Coventry are next in action away at Desborough Town TONIGHT (Tuesday, March 28) with kick-off at 7.45pm at the SGP Academy Arena.
