MARK Robins insists Coventry City must be at their best ahead of a tough trip to Leeds United this weekend.
The Sky Blues have won just one of their six league matches this season and slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Swansea City in their last outing.
City drew 1-1 at Elland Road last season but Robins hopes his side can produce a better performance this time around.
Robins said: “They’ve got really good players there’s no doubt. They’re on the front foot and they want to press and the spaces they take up are really intelligent and they have intelligent players.
“We will have to be at our best again, but I want us to take part in the game properly if we can do and that is something we will be looking to do.
“When we have possession of the ball, we want to make better use of it than what we did last season.
“Hopefully, we can contest it in a better way than we did last season, even though it was a draw last year, we didn’t really take part in the game from an attacking point of view.”
The Sky Blues boss also confirmed experienced midfielder Jamie Allen will miss more than two months of action with a medial collateral ligament injury.
However, captain Ben Sheaf could return to the starting line-up after sitting on the bench in last weekend’s defeat against Swansea.
Robins added: “Jamie has an MCL injury and will be out for a significant period of time, which will be around 8-10 weeks.
“He’s been through quite a torrid 12 months with various issues, but he doesn’t do anything by halves.
“If he has an issue, it’s an issue and clearly it’s a blow and for Jamie and us, we will do everything we can to help him get over it as quickly as he can do.
“Ben has trained all week. With every day that goes by he is closer to the team and that is a real positive and has been for a while.”
Coventry make the trip to Leeds on Saturday, September 28 with kick-off at 3pm at Elland Road.
