MARK Robins wants his Coventry City side to play with intensity ahead of hosting Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
The City boss heaped praise on his side’s performance following a 3-0 win against Blackburn Rovers last time out.
And Robins wants to see more of the same against the Owls at the Coventry Building Society Arena this weekend.
Robins said: “It builds confidence obviously. There are things that need working on because you don’t get things right all the time, but if we can use that as a platform then great.
“They did what was asked of them and what was needed to win a game so they should be ready for this weekend.
“Sheffield Wednesday played and had a trip to Bristol City the day after us and that can have an impact.
“We need to go in with the same intensity, whatever team I pick, and set about the job the way we’ve got to do against a really well organised and well drilled team.”
Robins also explained his decision to bring goalkeeper Ben Wilson back into the side and confirmed midfielder Tatsuhiro Sakamoto will miss this weekend’s fixture after he sustained a nasty gash in the win against Blackburn.
Robins added: “Ben’s experienced quite a bit with us. He played in that season before last and got all the plaudits and ended up in the team of the season with 22 clean sheets, which was a club record.
“It was a decision I wanted to take because he has a different voice and a different influence, and he is a decent communicator with the players in front of him.
“I have three really good goalkeepers, and I’ve got one coming through that is going to be a really good goalkeeper as well and it’s a competitive pool and they have to be ready for when their chance comes.
“He [Sakamoto] has a gash. He had eight stitches in his thigh, and you have to hope he doesn’t get any complications or infections, but I’m hopeful he will be ready for the Preston game.”
Coventry host Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, October 5 with kick-off at 3pm at the CBS Arena.
