COVENTRY City have signed Danish midfielder Victor Torp for an undisclosed fee from Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08.
The 24-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Sky Blues until June 2028 and scored eight goals in 43 appearances for Sarpsborg in the Norwegian Eliteserien.
Torp is a central midfielder and has played for Denmark up to under-20 level.
Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: “We’re delighted to welcome Victor to Coventry City. He is a player who brings to us creativity and athleticism.
“He will need a period of adjustment but we are confident that he will adapt to the intensity and demands of training and the Championship.
“He is an elegant player. He has decent techniques and clean feet and can see a pass.
“He is going to need to get used to the speed of the game. He’s 24 and the age is a good one to come into our squad.
“He isn’t a direct replacement for Gustavo Hamer, he is totally different to that, he has different characteristics and was within the profile when the recruitment team were looking.
“He is a really good lad and speaks perfect English. We’re confident over time he will fit in really well.
“You have to remember he has been off for over five weeks, so he needs time to get up to speed, but he is a good player.
“We look forward to working with Victor and him continuing his footballing development with us.”
The midfielder started his career at FC Midtjylland before enjoying two separate loan spells with Fredericia and further temporary stints with Lyngby and Belgian side KV Kortrijk.
