KASEY Palmer came off the bench to score against his former club and earn Coventry City a point in a 1-1 draw at Bristol City.
Palmer struck on 76 minutes to draw City level after George Tanner’s stunning strike put the Robins ahead in first-half injury time at Ashton Gate.
The Sky Blues looked to make a fast start as Milan van Ewijk sent an early shot over the crossbar from 20-yards out.
Coventry goalkeeper Oliver Dovin then made a couple of fine saves in quick succession to deny Max Bird and George Tanner from distance.
And Dovin made another excellent stop soon after to deny Sinclair Armstrong when one-on-one from Scott Twine’s through ball.
A superb piece of defending from Jake Bidwell then denied Armstrong a clear shot on goal from inside the box after Josh Eccles lost possession in a dangerous area.
The Robins went close again in first-half injury time as Dovin pushed Twine’s free-kick from 25-yards out behind for a corner.
However, from the resulting corner, the home side took the lead as Tanner sent a stunning volley into the top left corner from the edge of the penalty area after Coventry failed to properly clear their lines.
Following a disappointing first-half display, the Sky Blues improved after the break as Haji Wright lashed an effort into the side netting from a promising position in the box.
The Robins almost doubled their lead only for van Ewijk to intervene and turn the ball behind for a corner at the back post with Anis Mehmeti charging in to meet a low ball across the box.
City went close with a free-kick soon after as substitute Palmer saw his effort deflect behind for a corner.
And Palmer drew the Sky Blues level on 76 minutes with a fine finish into the top right corner after Luis Binks headed down Ephron Mason-Clark’s floated cross from the right and the home side failed to clear their lines.
City went in search of a winner as Mason-Clark drilled a shot wide before fellow substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante also fired wide at the death as the game ended all square.
