COVENTRY City scored three goals in the space of eight second-half minutes to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 victory against Sheffield Wednesday in a replay.
The Sky Blues took the lead through Kasey Palmer’s early strike only for Bailey Cadamarteri to level for the Owls in a frantic opening at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
However, City blew the Owls away after the break as Callum O’Hare scored two goals in six minutes before Haji Wright completed the scoring just before the hour mark.
Coventry will play National League South side Maidstone United in the fifth round of the competition with the game to take place on Monday, February 26 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the CBS Arena.
Mark Robins’ side broke the deadlock after just three minutes when Palmer received O’Hare’s pass before driving past several Wednesday players and firing a powerful low shot into the bottom left corner.
However, the visitors equalised seven minutes later as Cadamarteri pounced to finish a loose ball in the box after Coventry failed to clear their lines.
City spurned a number of chances to reclaim the lead before O’Hare produced a cool finish into the bottom right corner from Palmer’s pass on 50 minutes to put the Sky Blues back in front.
And the midfielder doubled his tally for the game six minutes later after cutting inside of his man before curling a superb effort into the right corner of the goal from 15-yards out.
The home side sealed their place in the next round two minutes later when Wright headed in Jay Dasilva’s cross from the left from six-yards out.
Coventry are next in action at home to Millwall on Sunday, February 11 with kick-off at 12pm (midday) at the CBS Arena.
