FOOTBALL - Shuttle bus trial to continue at Coventry City's next two home matches

COVENTRY City have extended the shuttle bus service trial to the Coventry Building Society Arena for the club’s next two home matches.

Following a successful trial against Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City, the trial of the route from Coventry Train Station to the CBS Arena will continue for games against Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.

City host Blackburn TONIGHT (Tuesday, October 1, kick-off 7.45pm) and then entertain Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, October 5 (kick-off 3pm).

However, the club will not operate the Nuneaton/Bedworth route for the games against Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday.

Coventry insist the Nuneaton/Bedworth route will remain as part of the club’s consideration for any permanent service.

The service from Coventry City Centre will continue to be free for supporters for the trial period – fans simply need to show their match ticket or season ticket to use the service.

The service will collect fans ahead of the game from the Rail Replacement bus stops at Coventry Train Station (Near Central Six, opposite Burger King) and White Street Coach Park before dropping them off at the Bus Station at Arena Park Shopping Centre, near to Foleshill Road/Nandos.

Post-match, buses will wait at the Bus Station at Arena Park and follow the reverse route.

Sky Blues fans are encouraged to make use the free service for the extended trial period, with the hope that a successful trial would lead to a longer term shuttle bus service.

Pick up times from Coventry Train Station before the game against Blackburn Rovers: 16:45, 17:15, 17:45, 18:15, 18:45 and 19:15.

Outbound times following the game against Blackburn Rovers: 21:45, 22:15, 22:45, 23:15 and 23:45.

The services will stop at White Street Coach Park to pick up any spectators before arriving at the Arena.

Pick up times from Coventry Train Station before the game against Sheffield Wednesday: 12:00, 12:30, 13:00, 13:30, 14:00 and 14:30.

Outbound times following the game against Sheffield Wednesday: 17:00, 17:30, 18:00, 18:30, 19:00 and 19:30.

Coventry’s chief operating officer, John Taylor, said: “We’re pleased to extend the trial of the shuttle bus service from Coventry City Centre for a further two games.

“The comments from fans have been positive and helpful, and we hope that the usage of the shuttle buses continues to be good.

“For this extended trial, we will continue to make the service free and would therefore encourage fans to use the service for our two home games next week – simply by showing their match ticket or season ticket.

“While the Nuneaton route is not taking place for the next two games, this will continue to form part of our discussions as we look at the long-term options and viability of the shuttle bus service.”

Coventry will continue to monitor feedback and comments regarding the service and pick up locations.
