MARK Robins insists Coventry City must be at the heart of any future plans for the CBS Arena after Jamie Allen’s goal secured a crucial 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers.
Allen scored the winner on 41 minutes when he finished from close range, from Josh Eccles’ low cross from the right, a result which lifts City out of the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone.
However, with Coventry’s immediate future at the CBS Arena in doubt, Robins hopes any prospective buyer will ensure the Sky Blues remain in their home city.
Robins said: “We’ve got the uncertainty of where we’re going to play, the players were absolutely outstanding and were supported by a brilliant group of supporters again.
“Those people have been through so much, it needs sorting out and making sure that we are capable of playing our home games in a stadium that was made for us.
“Whoever is going to buy this stadium needs to make sure that we are at the heart of it and we’ll all get on fine.
“I think we’ll be here up until the break for the World Cup, it gives time for things to be resolved favourably in that time.”
The Sky Blues were the better team throughout and denied Blackburn top spot with a spirited performance whilst Rovers had Jake Garrett sent off on 85 minutes when he lunged in on Callum Doyle.
Despite the club’s off-field issues, and a virus that has swept through the first-team squad, City were good value for their win with a dead leg picked up by influential midfielder Gustavo Hamer the only dampener on a fine night under the lights.
Coventry are next in action away at Watford on Saturday, November 5 with kick-off at 3pm at Vicarage Road.
