COVENTRY City can move into the play-off places with a win this weekend as Mark Robins’ side look to extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches against Stoke City.
The Sky Blues are enjoying their best run of form in four seasons and would move up to sixth in the Championship table should City beat the Potters and other results go their way.
Coventry have not been in the top-six all season but recent wins against Millwall, Rotherham United, Sunderland, Huddersfield Town and Blackpool has seen City mount an unlikely push for the play-offs.
And with the Sky Blues just three points outside of the top-six, supporters are daring to dream of a sensational return to the Premier League.
However, opponents Stoke (13th) are unbeaten in four league matches which includes credible draws against high-flying Middlesbrough and play-off hopefuls Norwich City in their most recent outings.
Coventry won the reverse fixture at the bet365 Stadium 2-0 back in October as Joe Allen and Gustavo Hamer scored second-half goals to secure a deserved victory on the road.
And history appears to be on City’s side with Stoke’s last win in this fixture coming back in April 2008 with the Sky Blues unbeaten in their last six against the Potters.
Victory is a must for City this weekend, with just seven points separating Millwall in sixth and Preston North End in 12th.
Coventry’s clash with Stoke takes place on Saturday, April 1 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
