COVENTRY City winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto has signed a new contract with the club until 2027.
Sakamoto joined the Sky Blues in the summer of 2023 from Belgian side KV Oostende.
The 28-year-old has scored 11 goals in 72 appearances for Coventry.
Sakamoto said: “I’m so happy to sign a new contract. I want to thank the club for my contract, I am so happy and grateful they have given me a new contract.
“I was worried about a few things, because I have moved my family to the UK from Japan, it had been difficult because of my English, but the gaffer, coaches, my teammates, the staff and the supporters have always helped me.
“They have all helped me settle into this country and at this club, so this is a reason why I wanted to stay and sign this new contract.
“I am so proud to play for this club. I love home games, of course away games the supporters are amazing but at home it is amazing every game, and it gives me goosebumps every game.
“They always create a great atmosphere and get behind us and I really appreciate their support, and I am always so excited to play in front of them.
“They give me a great energy and I get confidence from them; they are massive for me.”
This season, Sakamoto has scored four goals and provided five assists in 40 appearances.
