BOBBY Thomas scored his first Coventry City goal as the Sky Blues battled to a 1-1 draw away at promotion-chasing Leeds United.
Thomas’s excellent header on 66 minutes cancelled out Crysencio Summerville’s 58th minute opener at Elland Road.
And the result means Coventry sit 15th in the Championship table, nine points outside of the play-off places.
The Sky Blues went close to an opener after Ben Sheaf won the ball deep in the Leeds half before curling a shot towards goal which Illan Meslier pushed to safety.
And City created another chance soon after as Tatsuhiro Sakamoto dragged an effort narrowly wide from just inside the penalty area.
Leeds responded with their first sight of goal at the other end as Georginio Rutter turned his man before drilling an effort wide of the target.
And Rutter spurned another opening soon after, firing wide from the left-hand side of the penalty area as the teams went into the break level.
However, Leeds broke the deadlock on 58 minutes as Summerville found the right corner of the goal from six-yards out from Rutter’s through ball.
City equalised eight minutes later when Thomas sent a superb header into the bottom right corner from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s cross from the right.
And Thomas then made a stunning last-ditch challenge to deny Daniel James a certain goal at the death as the Sky Blues held on to secure a point.
Coventry are next in action away at Sunderland on Saturday, December 23 with kick-off at 3pm at the Stadium of Light.
