VICTOR Torp admitted it was a ‘no-brainer’ to become Coventry City’s first January signing after the midfielder joined the club for an undisclosed fee from Sarpsborg 08.
Torp, a former Denmark under-20 international, provides Sky Blues boss Mark Robins with another option in central midfield.
And the 24-year-old is looking forward to testing himself in England’s second tier after scoring eight goals in 43 appearances for former club Sarpsborg in the Norwegian Eliteserien.
Torp said: “It feels fantastic. I’m really happy to be here and I’m just looking forward to doing my best for this amazing club.
“It was an easy decision when the opportunity arose. The initial talks I had with the club made it a no-brainer.
“I felt a lot of love from the people here at the club, there are some really good people here.
“Everyone knows English football and the Championship is a huge competition and it’s a nice, big step for me.
“I had been in Norway for the last year and a half, and I had done quite well, but this is a big opportunity for me and one I’m looking forward to and to do my best.”
Torp could make his debut in Coventry’s clash with rivals Leicester City in the M69 derby this weekend, subject to the club receiving international clearance to complete the deal in time for the game.
Torp added: “I play central midfield. I like to have the ball and I like to make good relationships with my teammates and to play good football.
“I also want to contribute with goals and assists.
“I’m looking forward to playing in the Arena and playing in the Sky Blue shirt in front of the fans, it can’t come quick enough.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about the fans, and I can’t wait to meet them, play up Sky Blues.”
