KATIE Wilkinson’s brace helped Coventry United Ladies on their way to a resounding 4-0 win against Watford and into the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Wilkinson converted a first half penalty before doubling her tally just past the hour mark with Katy Morris and Rio Hardy also on target at Gaywood Park.
The result means Coventry are in the hat for the fourth round draw which takes place at 7pm tonight.
Jay Bradford’s side took the lead on 20 minutes when Wilkinson found the bottom left corner from the penalty spot after Olivia Fergusson was taken out in the box.
United keeper Lucy Thomas then made a stunning save to deny Watford’s Megan Chandler from close range before Fergusson shot narrowly wide at the other end.
And the Red and Greens would double their lead on 57 minutes when Morris chested down Wilkinson’s pass before finding the corner..
Wilkinson then grabbed her second of the afternoon with a delightful chip over Watford keeper Georgie Ferguson on 61 minutes after she beat the offside trap.
And the scoring was complete on 81 minutes when Hardy smashed home after some pinball in the Watford penalty area.
Coventry are next in action at home to Women’s Super League side Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, December 15 in the League Cup with kick-off at 7.45pm at Butts Park Arena.
