HAJI Wright scored a brace as Coventry City secured a come-from-behind 2-1 win away at Watford to remain firmly in play-off contention.
Wright’s penalty on 40 minutes cancelled out Ryan Porteous’s opener before the striker scored the winner on 72 minutes at Vicarage Road.
And the result means Coventry sit eighth in the Championship table, one point outside of the play-off places.
The Sky Blues went close to breaking the deadlock when Victor Torp slipped the ball into Jake Bidwell who curled inches wide from the edge of the penalty area.
At the other end, Ismaël Koné placed an effort narrowly wide of the post from 20-yards out.
And Watford took the lead on 20 minutes when Porteous looped a header over Brad Collins at the near post from Ryan Andrews’ long throw from the right.
However, City equalised five minutes before half time when Hornets goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann brought down Josh Eccles in the box and Wright fired the resulting penalty into the top right corner.
And the same players combined for the away side’s winner on 72 minutes as Eccles picked out Wright in space before the striker whipped a shot into the bottom right corner from 20-yards out.
Coventry are next in action away at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, March 16 in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with kick-off at 12.15pm at Molineux.
