TEENAGE midfielder Kai Andrews has signed his first professional contract with Coventry City.
The 17-year-old has agreed terms on a deal with the Sky Blues which will run until June 2026.
Andrews has established himself in City’s under-21’s squad and made his first team debut against Middlesbrough in August last year.
Andrews said: “It’s an unbelievable moment and it’s everything I’ve been working towards since I joined the club six years ago as a youth player.
“I’m so thankful to all the staff in the academy and the first team that have helped me to get to here and it’s just an amazing moment.
“There’s been many ups and downs. There were times where I was finding hard to get into the squad and I was struggling to get minutes, but I never gave up.
“I’ve always kept going and now it’s paid off and I just want to keep putting more in now every day in training and every time I train with the first team.
“I just need to keep improving now and hopefully have success in the future at this club.”
And after appearing from the bench as a late substitute against Boro earlier this season, Andrews hopes to further improve his game by training with the first team throughout the campaign.
Andrews added: “I just want to keep getting as many minutes as I can with the Under-21s and gaining as much experience as I can in that league.
“Then, I want to try and keep myself at the Sky Blue Lodge, training with the first team and continue learning and developing as a player.”
