COVENTRY BEES returned to the scene of their 2010 Elite League Playoff Championship win on Wednesday night as they tackled Poole Pirates in a ‘challenge series’ fixture.
The Bees were supported by a strong following of black & gold supporters who stood loud and proud on bends one and two and in the stadium’s main grandstand.
Alun Rossiter took charge of the side after being asked to fill the vacant position while Coventry legend Chris Harris rode at number five.
Stefan Nielson took Kenneth Bjerre’s place with British Champion Danny King, Danish racer Lasse Bjerre and British youngsters Jason Garrity, James Sarjeant and Josh Bates completing the squad.
Though the Pirates won the meeting by 14 points, Bees did show moments of promise – including a superb heat win for King in heat one and Lasse Bjerre in race ten.
Coventry race their next challenge series fixture at Rye House on Saturday (May 6).
