JESSICA Gadirova ended a remarkable week with a spellbinding floor routine to win her third gold medal at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antalya, Turkey.
The Coventry gymnast added to her team and all-around victories with gold in her favourite event as she won a third successive women’s European floor title.
Gadirova topped the podium with a score of 14.000 ahead of Great Britain teammate Alice Kinsella (13.666) and Romania’s Sabrina Voinea (13.566).
Gadirova said: “The experience has been amazing, I literally can’t believe what’s happened, it’s been such an amazing Championships, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
“I enjoyed it [my floor routine] so much, that’s the reason why I do gymnastics, I love to perform and especially on the floor, I just gave it everything I could.
“I do get nervous, but once you’ve finished an amazing routine, all the adrenaline and feeling you get and people congratulating you is such a nice heartwarming feeling, that’s why I love to compete.
“The team means so much to me, every single one of them helped me so much, I’m so thankful to them and my family and friends at home, they’ve played such a big part in my journey.”
The 18-year-old helped Britain top the overall medal table as Team GB won four gold’s, four silver’s and a bronze to finish clear of Italy and hosts Turkey.
