HOCKEY: A DEPLETED Coventry & North Warwickshire put up a valiant fight but fell to a disappointing 10-2 defeat at home to Boots in the Midland League Division One.
A well worked opening gave Boots an early lead but minutes later from their first attack Coventry drew level with stand in skipper Sam Clarke’s shot at goal being deflected in by an alert Matt Leatherdale.
However three more successes powered Boots three goals ahead by the half way mark. Waqas Akbar earned a short corner as C&NW seemed to be rejuvenated by the half time talk but this was wasted.
Another Boots goal followed and although their quick breaks were almost overwhelming the Coventry team Luke Reynolds was able reverse flick in a good goal to make it 2-5.
Thereafter it was all one way as the home team tired and could not prevent the score getting into double figures.
