Coventry Editorial 28th Oct, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

AN HISTORIC first season as an all-jumps course at Warwick Racecourse is set to continue with a band in November.

The new 2014/2015 fixtures list was recently announced and will see Warwick stage a packed card of races on November 5 as part of packed calendar of 15 meetings up to its season finale on May 20.

Entry for racing on November 5 will begin at 11am and finish at 5pm, with entry free of charge to any serving military personnel as part of Armed Forces Day at the track.

Huw Williams, General Manager of Warwick Racecourse, said it was the start of a new era for the course.

He said: “This is not just the beginning of the season for Warwick Racecourse, this is a new era as an all-jumps course.

“The future of racing in Warwick was secured by the decision to move to being an all-jumps course and it’s our aim now to become one of the elite small jumps tracks in the Midlands – if not the UK – and this is the start of that.

“We are expecting a good mix of local racing fans and national followers to be here for the fixture on November 5and there are several stand out meetings throughout the season.

“It’s going to be a very busy few months but we have no doubt that this is the start of a very bright future ahead for this 300-year-old course.”

A midweek jumps fixture will be held on November 19, followed by a Christmas Party race day on December 11.

The climax to the year is a family New Year’s race day on December 31.
