COVENTRY Blaze continued their fine recent form with a 3-2 win at high-flying Guildford Flames in midweek.
Marly Quince, Mitch Cook and Nate Halbert were all on target at the Guildford Spectrum as Blaze secured back-to-back wins on the road.
The result means Coventry remain fifth in the Elite League standings.
Blaze had netminder Miklos Rajna to thank for keeping Guildford scoreless in the first period as he made numerous saves before Quince struck the opener at 19.44.
However, the Hungary international was finally beaten by Brett Ferguson at 24.10 to send the teams into the third period level.
Jack Billings had a one-on-one opportunity to put Coventry back ahead but his effort was stopped by Flames’ netminder Taz Burman.
Blaze reclaimed the lead at 44.58 when Cook converted Tyler Kirkup’s pass to collect his third point in two matches.
And captain Halbert scored the game-winning goal on the powerplay at 49.28 as Johnny Curran registering his second primary assist of the night.
Bradley Lalonde gave the Flames hope with a powerplay goal at 58.11 but Coventry held on to record their ninth point from the last possible twelve.
Blaze continue a four-game road swing in Cardiff on Saturday, March 11 before returning home to face Fife Flyers at Skydome Arena on Sunday, March 12 with a 5.30pm face-off.
