COVENTRY Blaze claimed victory at Fife Flyers before suffering a home defeat against Cardiff Devils.
Blaze won 4-1 against the Flyers at Fife Ice Arena as Coventry ran away with the game in the third period.
Coventry then lost 3-0 against Cardiff at the Skydome Arena to suffer a third defeat from five league matches this season.
The results mean Blaze sit eighth in the Elite League table.
Following a physical opening five minutes in Fife, Coventry took the lead when Grant Mismash found the net at 7.12 from Elijiah Barriga’s assist.
Blaze failed to capitalise on three minor penalties thereafter as the middle period ended goalless.
And Coventry spurned another chance on the man advantage at the start of the third period.
Fife eventually equalised at 42.46 as new signing Giordano Finoro struck with seven seconds remaining on a Blaze powerplay.
However, Blaze responded just over a minute later at 43.47 when Grayson Constable fired home assisted by Connor Russell and Artie Buzoverya.
Coventry struck again just 27 seconds later as William Boysen produced a clinical finish to put the visitors in command.
And Blaze finally made Fife pay, following a clumsy hit by Jonas Emmerdahl on Mack Stewart, as Matthew Gleason finished from close range at 53.59 on the powerplay.
Fife’s Jeremy Masella took a double minor in the final minutes as Blaze comfortably saw out the game to seal a second league victory of the season.
However, Blaze then suffered a shutout home defeat against Cardiff on home ice at the Skydome.
The best chance of the first period saw Great Britain international Ben Bowns make a stunning glove save to keep out Barriga’s early effort.
Coventry killed a Cardiff powerplay soon after as Stewart led a brave Blaze block as the first period ended goalless.
Blaze’s first powerplay of the game came early in the second period with Kevin Moore’s side unable to make the breakthrough.
And Bowns produced another inspired stop to deny offensive blue-liner Ivan Chukarov after he found himself wide open in front of the Cardiff net.
The Devils eventually broke the deadlock at 36.41 as Great Britain forward Brett Perlini scored on a breakaway assisted by Steven MacLean.
And Bowns then made a fine double save to keep Cardiff ahead and leave Blaze scoreless after the first two periods.
Cardiff killed a Blaze powerplay at the start of the third period and doubled their lead at 42.10 as Cole Sanford found the net.
Blaze pulled Mat Robson for an extra skater late on only for Ryan Barrow to finish into an empty net at 58.38 to complete the scoring.
Coventry are next in action against Nottingham Panthers on Saturday, November 1 with the face-off at 7pm at Motorpoint Arena.
