COVENTRY Blaze bounced back from a 5-2 defeat at Fife Flyers with a 4-1 win at Dundee Stars on a mixed weekend in Scotland.

Blaze surrendered an early lead in defeat at the Fife Ice Arena before claiming an impressive victory at Dundee Ice Arena the following night.

The result means Coventry sit sixth in the Elite League table.

Against Fife, Blaze took the lead at 6.37 when Ian McNulty tapped home Danny Kristo’s perfect pass at the back post on the powerplay.

Flyers equalised through Kyle Osterberg at 11.14 on a breakaway as the first period ended all square before Fife turned the game on its head at 30.00 when Max Humitz fired home on the powerplay.

And Humitz scored again on the powerplay at 37.32 before Brady Norrish reduced the deficit for Blaze at 43.13 with a powerful shot past Shane Owen in the Flyers goal.

However, Flyers eventually sealed the points at 45.20 as Osterberg found the net before Teemu Pulkkinen completed the scoring at 56.10 with another powerplay goal.

The following night, Blaze bounced back with an impressive win at Dundee with netminders Lucas Brine and Taran Kozun in fine form as the first period ended goalless.

Coventry broke the deadlock at 21.36 when Alessio Luciani found space and fired past Brine at 21.36 with Johnny Curran and Carter Allen credited with assists.

Dundee levelled through Carter Johnson at 30.06 before Elijah Vilio was assessed a slashing penalty and Ryan Valentini was handed a further minor penalty for abuse of official.

And Blaze made Dundee pay for their ill-discipline as Kobe Roth struck from the resulting five-on-three scenario at 37.12 on the powerplay.

The Stars then had Chris McKay chucked from the game for boarding on Coventry’s McNulty.

Blaze eventually extended their advantage at 53.29 as Kim Tallberg added his name to the scoresheet before Dundee pulled Brine for the extra skater.

And Roth grabbed his second of the game at 57.16, scoring into an empty net, to seal the points.

Coventry are next in action away at Manchester Storm on Friday, March 15 with the face-off at 7.30pm at Planet Ice Altrincham.

Blaze then host Sheffield Steelers on Sunday, March 17 with the face-off at 5.30pm at the Skydome Arena.
