COVENTRY Blaze have confirmed the depature of American netminder Cam Gray due to family reasons.

The 28-year-old iced for the club in two pre-season games which included a 6-2 victory against the Kyiv Capitals.

Gray joined Blaze in the summer following two seasons in the ECHL with Indy Fuel during which he also earned a tryout with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs and spent time in the SPHL with Macon Mayhem.

Gray said: “I would like to thank Kevin Moore and the Coventry Blaze for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a storied organisation.

“After careful consideration, I’ve decided that being back at home is the best decision for me and my family at this time. I wish the team nothing but the best this season.”

Blaze head coach, Kevin Moore, added: “I would like to thank Cam for his commitment to the Blaze the last few weeks.

“Cam is someone who I have coached on three different teams and is one of my all time favourite people and he will be missed. I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours.”

Before turning professional, Gray was a stand-out at Adrian College (NCAA III) and led the Bulldogs to the program’s first National Championship in 2022.
